The mandates of the Medicinal Cannabis Authority are, to:

Regulate medicinal cannabis business and the sacramental use of cannabis for religious use within Antigua and Barbuda, and in so doing to consider the protection of the public to be the highest priority.

Consider the protection of the public paramount in the exercise of all licensing, regulatory, and disciplinary powers.

Ensure that the public receives the highest quality medicinal cannabis products for therapeutic use by establishing and enforcing standards for medicinal cannabis products.

Create Rules and recommend further Regulations as may be necessary to implement, administer and enforce its duties under the Cannabis Act, 2018.

Collect requisite fees as outlined by the Cannabis Regulations, 2019 in connection with licensing activities and in so doing create revenue opportunity for the Government of Antigua and Barbuda.

Overview
EThe Medicinal Cannabis Authority (the “MCA” or “Authority”) of Antigua and Barbuda was established in 2019 pursuant to the Antigua and Barbuda Cannabis Act 2018 and Cannabis Regulations 2019 and has its headquarters at Suite #21 at Jasmines Court, St. John’s Antigua.
The Authority is a statutory body created for the purpose of regulating and issuing licenses for the cultivation, manufacture, processing, extraction, import, export, testing, research, distribution, and sale of medicinal cannabis goods.
The Authority monitors all financial and other related transactions within the medicinal cannabis industry, and also has oversight of the issuance of licences for sacramental cannabis use.
